A Thanksgiving Tradition in Rim Rock: Our Annual Turkey Trot
There’s something special about Thanksgiving morning in Rim Rock. The air is crisp, the sun starts to warm the Hill Country landscape, and neighbors begin to gather for donuts, coffee and conversation.
What started as a casual “let’s have a little neighborhood get together” idea has turned into one of our favorite neighborhood traditions. Whether you’re walking, jogging, running or just trot’n along - everyone is welcome! Dogs (on leashes please) kids of all ages including those in strollers are more than welcome too! Even if you’re not up for a taking on either of the Turkey Trot trails you’re welcome to hang out by the fire while enjoying donuts, coffee and lots of friendly conversation.
Each year, I’m reminded how fortunate we are to live here. Rim Rock isn’t just a beautiful Driftwood neighborhood - it’s a place where people wave when they drive by, where we celebrate milestones together, and where we genuinely look out for one another and stop to help out when we can. The Turkey Trot has become a little reflection of what makes this community so special.
Dripping Springs ISD is full of neighborhoods that share that same warmth and connection - each with its own personality, amenities, and annual traditions. Whether it’s a block party in Belterra or Highpointe, a shaved ice social in Founders Ridge, or a community wide block party in Parten (ranch), it’s these small, local gatherings that remind us what “home” really means.
As a Rim Rock homeowner (and someone who also helps others find their perfect place here in Driftwood or Dripping Springs), I see every day how community spirit and location can shape the feeling of home.
So this Thanksgiving, as we head out for our morning run—or walk, or leisurely trot - I’ll be extra thankful for the people who make this neighborhood feel like family.
Wishing everyone across Driftwood and Dripping Springs a happy, healthy, and gratitude-filled Thanksgiving!
